Most of Fire Island is not accessible directly by car. Cars are not permitted in most areas, aside from Robert Moses State Park. To access communities on Fire Island one must drive to a ferry terminal on Long Island.
For ferries to Kismet, Saltaire, Fair Harbor, Dunewood, Atlantique, Ocean Beach, Seaview and Ocean Bay Park you have to drive to 99 Maple Avenue, Bay Shore, NY 11706.
For ferries to Sunken Forest, Cherry Grove Fire Island Pines and Water Island you have to drive to 41 River Rd Sayville, NY 11782.
For ferries to Davis Park and Watch Hill you have to drive to 80 Brightwood Street, Patchogue, NY 11772.
