Saltaire

Saltaire located on the western part of Fire Island between the towns Kismet (West) and Fair Harbor (East).Saltaire and Ocean Beach are the only two incorporated villages on Fire Island.

It is mostly a family community, with large houses on large lots. Shares are prohibited. There are just over 400 homes in the community, including a Village Hall and Court, general market, Fire House, and the Saltaire Yacht Club.

Saltaire is the 2nd largest Fire Island community and it is situated on the widest area on the Fire Island. Fire Island Ferry service to Saltaire leaves from the Bay Shore Fire Island ferry terminal.

Saltaire, like most of Fire Island’s villages, consists of boardwalks, concrete walks, and sand paths. Saltaire has a large softball diamond, a full size basketball court, and a playground in its downtown area. Not many full-sized cars are found on the roads. Bicycles are the main form of transportation. From Memorial Day to Labor Day, you must use a light on your bicycle to ride at night.
