Looks like Hurricane Bill will be a miss for Fire Island, but a boon for surfers. Swells of up to ten feet are expected this weekend. Get ready for the high surf!

I ventured over to Cherry Grove last night for dinner at the Ice Palace. They have a special $5 chinese buffet every wednesday, as well as half-priced wine. The food was pretty good, the manager said they got their stuff from a chinese place in Sayville. I recommend it to anyone who is floating around at the beach during the weekdays.
Fire Island and the whole East Coast is in store for a soaking rainstorm for friday night. Luckily, it’s supposed to clear up on saturday and sunday for sunshine the rest of the weekend.
Tonight (Thursday):Rain likely. Cloudy, with a low around 55. Southeast wind between 7 and 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
Friday: Rain, mainly after noon. The rain could be heavy at times. High near 58. Breezy, with a east wind between 15 and 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between one and two inches possible.
Friday Night: Rain, mainly before 2am. The rain could be heavy at times. Low around 55. North wind between 16 and 18 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
Saturday: Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 70. Northwest wind 9 to 11 mph becoming south.
